Coco Palms.com is pleased to present this unique photo collection from Don Oystryk. It's a stark comparison to what once was the Coco Palms to what it tragically remains today.

Don stayed at the Coco Palms for a few days in late 1991, and snapped a few pictures with his pocket camera before moving on to another resort. The photos went into a box and then into storage as he moved around a bit, and they were mostly forgotten.

In early 2000 Don returned to Kauai for a vacation visit, and stopped by the Coco Palms one day to have a look. Naturally, he wasn't looking forward to seeing it in it's derelict state, preferring to remember it as it was, but curiosity got the better of him, and he snuck in for a quick peek, and snapped a couple of hurried pictures before leaving.

One day, while rummaging through some of his storage boxes, Don came across the photos from his original stay in 1991, and the picture of one of the swimming pools started the alarm bells ringing, so he rushed upstairs to grab the 2000 photos, and sure enough, the two pictures were virtually identical, taken from virtually the same perspective.
